What i have always found interesting, is the way that symbols evolve overtime, and the complete ignorance what a symbol actually means. Specifically what i am referring to is an incident that occurred the other day.

As i was standing at the register paying for my food at some fast food joint, i glanced at the wrist of a girl standing at the adjacent register, paying for her own food. The thing that really caught my attention was the fact that this girl had a peace sign tattooed on the inside of her left wrist.

This is the perfect example of someone who was completely ignorant of the meaning behind a symbol, and even more ridicuosly, decided to permanently place that symbol on their body.

What very few people know today is that the peace sign actually goes by another name, and that name is the cross of Nero.

Now if anyone knows even the briefest bit of history, they might be aware that Nero is the name of a roman emperor who was known for his cruelty and insanity. The cross of Nero itself was supposed to be a mockery of the christian cross, by distorting the sides downward. The peace sign, to Nero, was indeed a sign of peace. A peace that he believed would only be attained through the slaughter and removal of all Christians from the roman empire.

So this girl has tattooed a symbol meaning death to all Christians on her wrist.

Basically, i just cannot believe how stupid someone is that they wouldn't research the meaning behind something before placing something on their body.
